John Deere 523759.03 – OIC (Operator Interface Console): Left Switch for Remote Control of Rear PTO, Voltage Too High

This error code is generated when the control software detects that the voltage at the left external switch for the remote control of the rear PTO is too high. This typically indicates a short circuit to a supply lead. As a safety measure, the remote control of the rear PTO on the left side is deactivated by the control software, resulting in non-operation.

   Cycle the key switch to attempt a module recovery

   Visually inspect the left remote control switch (located on the rear fender) and its wiring harness for signs of physical damage, loose connections, water ingress, or corrosion

   Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the left remote control switch connector to ensure it remains within the specified range

   Trace the wiring of the left remote control switch to inspect for any short circuits to a power supply lead

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the electrical system to power down completely.

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the left rear external PTO switch mounted on the left rear fender.

   Disconnect and Inspect

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch. Inspect the pins on both the switch and the harness connector for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture. Clean if necessary.

   Test the Harness

   With the switch disconnected, turn the key to the ON position (engine off) and use a multimeter to check the harness for a short to power. If a short is found in the wiring, repair or replace the damaged section of the harness.

   Test/Replace the Switch

   If the wiring harness tests fine and the voltage supply is correct, the internal contacts of the switch itself have likely failed and shorted. Replace the switch with a new OEM unit.

   Clear Codes and Verify

   Reconnect the new switch, turn the key on, and clear the stored OIC diagnostic codes via the CommandCenter display. Test the external PTO switch to ensure the rear PTO engages and disengages safely.
