523775.19

John Deere 523775.19 – SCC, SCO, or ACU: Single Lever Control Hand Presence Switch Fault Message Received

Issue description

A CAN BUS communication error where the control module cannot determine the value of the hand presence/activation switch. The control software typically disables the single lever control functions to prevent unintended hydraulic movement.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 8245R through 8400R
  • 9470RT
  • 9520RT
  • 9570RT
  • 7630-7930
  • 8130-8530
  • 9230-9630

Check the cause

  1. Perform an operator presence check by moving your hand on and off the lever to see if the switch registers a physical state change

  2. Power cycle the tractor to reset communication messages, which can sometimes clear an intermittent active code

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading from the Single Lever Control to the CAN Bus network for signs of physical damage, loose pins, or corrosion

  4. Use a John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool to monitor live signals from the Hand Presence Switch to the control module to verify if it is receiving conflicting outputs or no signal

  5. As a temporary workaround, disable the single lever control in the CommandCenter display and use the standard SCV paddle controls (e.g., SCV III and IV)

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CAN Bus system.

  2. Access the Lever Assembly

Remove the trim panels on the CommandARM or right-hand console to access the base of the Multi-Function Lever / Single Lever Control.

  3. Clean and Secure Connections

Disconnect the main harness to the lever. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, ensure no pins are pushed back, and securely reconnect the harness.

  4. Test/Replace the Switch

If the wiring is intact but the diagnostic tool shows no signal, the hand presence switch itself has failed. Replace the lever assembly or actuator, as the internal switch is not serviceable separately.

  5. Reassembly and Calibration

Install the new lever assembly, reconnect the battery, and turn the key on.

  6. Clear Codes

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the stored 523775.19 code, recalibrate the new switch/lever if required by the specific model's software, and test the hydraulic functions for proper operation.
