John Deere 523775.19 – SCO (Front Chassis Module) or SCC (Selective Control Valve Controller / Single Lever Control): CAN BUS Message Fault - Multi-Function Lever Hand Presence Switch

The Armrest Interface Control (AIC) software cannot determine the value or state of the hand presence/activation switch. Because the actual value cannot be provided on the CAN Bus, the system transmits a replacement value, generating this diagnostic trouble code. The control software will typically limit or completely disable the function of the Selective Control Valves (SCVs) or the Single Lever Control as a safety precaution.

   Inspect CAN Bus wiring between the Armrest Interface Control (AIC) and the Front Chassis Module (SCO/SCC) for signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion.

   Test the Hand Presence Switch / E-SCV Activation Switch on the multi-function lever to ensure it is not physically stuck, damaged, or outputting conflicting signals.

   Use John Deere diagnostic tools (Service ADVISOR) to monitor the signals from the Hand Presence Switch to the SCC/SCO to ensure they are being received correctly.

   Test the broader CAN Bus network for proper communication to rule out a larger network failure.

   Repair Wiring

   Secure any loose connections and clean any corroded electrical contacts found during the inspection. Repair or replace any damaged CAN Bus wiring.

   Recalibrate

   If the wiring is intact, attempt to recalibrate the multi-function lever and the hand presence switch via the CommandCenter or Service ADVISOR.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If the switch fails functional tests or outputs conflicting signals, replace the Hand Presence Switch (or the entire Multi-Function Lever assembly, depending on how the part is serviced for your specific model).

   Reset and Test

   After addressing the issue, reset the system codes and perform functional tests (moving your hand on and off the lever) to ensure the switch is operating correctly and the SCV/Single Lever Control functions are fully restored.
