John Deere 523775.31 – SCO: CAN BUS Message Fault, Front Chassis Module (SCO) / Multi-Function Lever, E-SCV Activation Switch, Fault

The Armrest Interface Control (AIC) software has detected an open circuit in the E-SCV (Electronic Selective Control Valve) activation switch. Because of this open circuit, the AIC cannot determine the switch's value and transmits a replacement value over the CAN Bus, which triggers this specific diagnostic trouble code in the SCO control software. When active, the control software may limit or completely disable the function of the selective control valves.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connections leading from the AIC to the E-SCV activation switch (hand presence switch) on the multi-function lever for open circuits, chafing, or breaks.

   Inspect all electrical connectors at the multi-function lever and the SCO module for corrosion, looseness, or bent pins.

   Use a multimeter or John Deere diagnostic software to monitor the outputs of the E-SCV activation switch/hand presence switch to verify if it is registering inputs correctly.

   Verify proper communication across the CAN Bus network between the AIC and SCO modules.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Clean and Secure Connections

   If corrosion or loose connections were found during diagnostics, clean the connector pins with contact cleaner and securely reseat the harnesses.

   Repair Wiring

   If an open circuit or damaged wire is located in the armrest harness, splice and repair the damaged section according to OEM wiring standards.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring and CAN Bus communication are intact but the switch fails functional testing, replace the E-SCV activation switch / Multi-Function Lever Hand Presence Switch.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, clear the active SCO and AIC fault codes, and test the multi-function lever to ensure the selective control valves operate without disabling.
