John Deere 523776.19 – SCO (Front Chassis Module): CAN BUS Message Fault, Front Chassis Module (SCO) / Multi-Function Lever Transport Lock Switch Fault

The system has received a fault message over the CAN bus indicating a circuit failure, short, or open condition in the transport lock switch (hand presence switch or interlock actuator). When this fault is active, the control module will disable the selective control valves (SCVs) and functions related to the multi-function lever to prevent unintended hydraulic operation.

   Physically examine the transport lock switch (interlock actuator) on the multi-function lever for mechanical binding, wear, or physical damage.

   Inspect all CAN bus wiring and the specific pigtail connectors associated with the multi-function lever and the SCO module. Look for pinched wires in the armrest console, loose connections, or corrosion.

   Use a John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool to monitor the live signals from the Transport Lock Switch to the SCO. Verify if the switch state changes when the lever is gripped. If the signal is erratic or missing, the switch or harness is the culprit.

   Test the CAN Bus Network to ensure proper communication across the network, as a broader communication drop can sometimes trigger this specific message fault.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during service.

   Access the Multi-Function Lever

   Remove the trim panels on the right-hand CommandARM or side console to access the base of the multi-function lever and its wiring harness.

   Harness Inspection & Repair

   Disconnect the multi-function lever harness. Clean the connector pins with electrical contact cleaner. If any wires are chafed (a common issue inside moving armrests), repair the wiring using OEM-approved splicing techniques.

   Replace the Switch/Actuator

   If the wiring tests good but the switch failed the diagnostic monitoring test, replace the Transport Lock Switch / Actuator assembly on the lever.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the harness and reinstall the console trim panels.

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the diagnostic tool to clear the SCO 523776.19 fault code. Perform a functional test by gripping the multi-function lever to ensure the transport lock disengages and hydraulic functions are restored.
