523804.19

John Deere 523804.19 – SCC: Single Lever Control Lateral Sensor Fault Message Received

Issue description

The value of the multi-function lever's lateral sensor (Function 2) cannot be determined and provided on the CAN Bus by the control software. A transmitted replacement value is generated, triggering this DTC. When this fault is active, the associated Selective Control Valves (SCVs) will typically not function.

Check the cause

  1. Check for priority codes (primary CAN Bus or SCC power supply codes) and address them first

  2. Inspect CAN Bus wiring between the multi-function lever and the SCC for signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion

  3. Verify that the multi-function lever (Function 2 / lateral movement) is not physically jammed or obstructed

  4. Test the CAN Bus network for proper communication to ensure the SCC is receiving messages from the armrest controls

Repair steps

  1. Temporary Workaround

If you need to continue working immediately, go into the tractor's CommandCenter display and disable the Single Lever Control. You can then operate the SCVs using the standard paddle controls.

  2. Harness Inspection

Power down the machine and disconnect the electrical connector at the base of the Multi-Function Lever. Inspect the pins for pushed-back terminals, moisture, or corrosion. Do the same at the SCC module.

  3. Recalibration

If the wiring is secure, attempt to recalibrate the multi-function lever using the CommandCenter display or John Deere Service ADVISOR.

  4. Component Replacement

If the calibration fails or the lateral potentiometer is internally shorted/open, the multi-function lever (or its internal actuator/sensor) must be replaced.

  5. Clear Codes

After replacing the lever, clear the stored 523804.19 code, perform a final calibration of the new lever, and test the SCV lateral functions for proper operation.
