Check the cause

  1. Perform a communication reset by placing the tractor in park, shutting off the engine, and restarting it to clear potential communication glitches

  2. Acknowledge the Service Alert by pressing the select switch on the CommandCenter to see if the display returns to normal mode

  3. As a temporary workaround if the code persists, manually disable the single lever control in the CommandCenter display and use SCV controls 3 and 4

  4. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the base of the joystick for pinched wires, loose pins, or debris causing a short or open circuit

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Module

Remove the trim panels and mounting screws on the CommandARM console to expose the base of the Single Lever Control (joystick) unit.

  3. Disconnect

Carefully unplug the electrical harness connector from the bottom of the joystick module.

  4. Remove

Unbolt the faulty joystick assembly from the armrest bracket.

  5. Install

Mount the new joystick assembly into the CommandARM and secure the retaining bolts.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness into the new joystick, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the armrest trim panels.

  7. Calibrate

Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and clear the stored 523805.02 code. Depending on the tractor model, you may need to navigate through the CommandCenter display to calibrate the new joystick's center, fore/aft, and side-to-side detent positions.
