John Deere 523805.19 – SCC / SCO / SCU: Single Lever Control Fore-Aft Sensor Fault Message Received
Issue description
This code indicates that the fore-aft (forward/backward) sensor data from the single lever control (multi-function joystick) was received via a CAN bus message with a fault indication, or the value cannot be determined by the control software. When this fault is active, the tractor's Selective Control Valves (SCVs) will be disabled and will not function as a safety precaution.

Check the cause
Restart the tractor and the GreenStar display to see if the code clears (checks for temporary voltage drop or software glitch)
Check all CAN Bus wiring harnesses and connectors between the Multi-Function Lever and the SCC/SCO control unit for physical damage, loose connections, pinched wires, or pin corrosion
Physically test the multi-function lever (Function 1 / Fore-Aft movement) to ensure it moves smoothly without binding and returns to the neutral position
Use a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to test the CAN Bus network for proper communication and verify if the SCC is receiving voltage sweeps from the lever's potentiometer
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Joystick
Remove the trim panels on the CommandARM or right-hand console to access the base of the Multi-Function Lever / Single Lever Control.
Harness Repair
Disconnect the electrical harness to the lever. Inspect the connector pins. If corrosion or wire chafing is found, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector pigtail.
Recalibrate the Lever
If the wiring is intact, reconnect the battery and use the tractor's display monitor (or Service ADVISOR) to perform a calibration of the Multi-Function Lever.
Replace the Assembly
If recalibration fails or the sensor is internally shorted/open, the entire Single Lever Control / Multi-Function Lever assembly must be replaced.
Final Testing
Install the new lever, reconnect all harnesses, power on the tractor, clear the stored fault codes, and test the SCV hydraulic functions to ensure the repair was successful.
