John Deere 523806.01 – Rear Chassis (RPT) / BCU (Basic Control Unit): Rear PTO Speed 3 Solenoid Voltage Issue

The system detects a low voltage condition or a power supply failure at the output for the Y75 solenoid (which controls the engagement of PTO Speed 3). This typically indicates an open circuit, a blown fuse supplying the power module, damaged wiring (such as lead 7115 or 0812), or a faulty solenoid coil.

   Check Power Link Box (PLB) fuses F02 PLB/01 and F02 PLB/02 (most common cause of this low-voltage code).

   Measure supply voltage at the output for the Y75 solenoid when PTO Speed 3 is commanded ON to confirm if voltage is dropping or missing.

   Inspect wiring harness (specifically lead 7115 or 0812) and connectors between the PC5 Power Module / RPT controller and the Y75 solenoid for disconnected wires, broken connections, or chafing.

   Test the Y75 solenoid coil resistance to ensure it is not internally shorted or open (a healthy coil typically reads around 5 Ohms).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.

   Inspect Fuses

   Open the Power Link Box (PLB) panel. Locate and pull fuses F02 PLB/01 and F02 PLB/02. If either is blown, replace it with a fuse of the exact same amperage rating.

   Access the Solenoid

   Locate the Y75 PTO Speed 3 Solenoid on the rear PTO hydraulic valve block.

   Clean Connections

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Y75 solenoid. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals. Clean the contacts with an electronic contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.

   Repair Harness (If Applicable)

   If your multimeter tests revealed an open circuit between the PC5 module and the solenoid, trace the harness and repair the broken wire using weather-sealed butt connectors.

   Replace Solenoid (If Applicable)

   If the fuses and wiring are intact but the solenoid failed the resistance test (or the code persists after verifying power), unbolt and remove the Y75 solenoid from the valve block. Install the new solenoid and torque to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect all harnesses. Turn the key ON, use the CommandCenter or a diagnostic tool to clear the RPT/BCU fault codes, and test the PTO in Speed 3 to verify the repair.
