John Deere 523812.03 – Rear Chassis (RPT): Rear PTO Speed 2 Solenoid Voltage Issue

The Power Assist/PTO (PAP) control software detects an abnormally high voltage on the output circuit to the Rear PTO Speed 2 solenoid when it is commanded on. This indicates a supply voltage fault, a short to power, or an internal failure within the solenoid circuit, causing the rear PTO functionality to be significantly limited or entirely disabled.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the Rear PTO Speed 2 solenoid for chafing, corrosion, or signs of a short circuit

   Measure the voltage at the solenoid connector when the PTO speed 2 is activated to ensure it is within the specified OEM range and not shorting to a higher voltage source

   Test the solenoid's internal resistance to check for an internal failure causing abnormal voltage or current readings

   Verify the PAP (Power Assist/PTO) control software version, as voltage regulation issues are sometimes addressed via software patches

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Repair Wiring
