   Inspect wiring harness and connectors associated with lead 7106 (Y74 solenoid circuit) for damage, worn insulation, exposed wires, or moisture intrusion.

   Use a digital multimeter to test the circuit for continuity and locate any potential short to ground or short to power, checking for areas where the harness may rub against the chassis.

   Unplug the Y74 solenoid and check if the current draw drops. Test the solenoid's internal resistance to ensure it is not shorted internally.

   Check the power module (PC5) for an internal short if the wiring tests fine but the module continues to output current when commanded off.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short in lead 7106, repair or splice the damaged section of the wiring harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors, or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If the Y74 solenoid failed the resistance test or is physically damaged, remove the retaining hardware securing the solenoid to the PTO valve block and install a new solenoid. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and O-rings are lubricated before installation.

   Replace Power Module PC5

   If the module is internally shorted, replace the PC5 power module. Note: This may require dealer software to program or calibrate the new module to the tractor's CAN bus network.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the battery, clear the active 523812.12 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the PTO Speed 2 engagement to ensure the current remains within safe operational limits and the code does not return.
