John Deere 523815.04 – XSC: AutoTrac™ Steer Enable Solenoid Voltage Low
Issue description
Voltage supplied to the steering control valve's enable solenoid falls below the expected range, typically indicating a short to ground in the circuit. When this fault occurs, the control software will exhibit limited or no functionality, disabling or severely limiting the automated steering system.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the steering control valve (specifically the Steer Enable Solenoid) for signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections
Use a multimeter to check the circuit for a short to ground, which is the primary trigger for a Voltage Low condition
Connect a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to monitor the voltage levels supplied to the steering control valve in real-time to identify deviations from the normal operating range
Test the AutoTrac Steer Enable Solenoid itself for internal shorts or damage
Verify that the voltage regulator responsible for maintaining the correct voltage level to the XSC module is functioning properly
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the battery before servicing sensitive electro-hydraulic components.
Repair Wiring
If a short to ground, break, or severe corrosion is found in the harness leading to the steering control valve, repair or replace the affected wiring and connectors.
Replace the Solenoid/Valve
