John Deere 523815.05 – RPT / BCU: Rear PTO Speed 3 Solenoid Low Amp Draw
Issue description
When the operator engages the PTO, the control module sends power to the Y75 solenoid (lead 7115). This code triggers when the module measures a current of less than 500 mA. This low current draw indicates an open circuit, which is typically caused by disconnected wires, broken harness connections, high resistance in the circuit, or a completely failed (open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the Y75 Rear PTO Speed 3 solenoid for broken wires, pulled pins, corrosion, or debris.
Disconnect the solenoid and measure the voltage at the harness connector while the PTO is commanded ON (should be 12V). Lower voltage indicates high resistance or a wiring issue upstream.
Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the wiring circuit (lead 7115) between the RPT/BCU module and the solenoid connector to rule out a broken wire.
Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the Y75 solenoid itself. Infinite resistance (OL) or an abnormally high value indicates the internal coil has failed.
