   Inspect the power supply to Channel 1 of the Wheel Angle Sensor to ensure the voltage regulation is correct and does not drop below 0.5 volts.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the Wheel Angle Sensor for signs of physical damage, loose pins, corrosion, or moisture.

   Use a multimeter to check for continuity in the power supply and signal circuits between the sensor and the control module (SSU/PTP/RGC) to rule out a broken wire or a short to ground.

   Verify that the control module software is up-to-date, as firmware updates can sometimes resolve sensor synchronization issues.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) mounted on the front axle steering cylinder or steering linkage.

   Harness Inspection & Repair

   Disconnect the sensor. If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault (open circuit or short to ground), repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring and reference voltage (typically 5V) are intact but the signal voltage remains out of range low, the sensor has failed internally. Remove the mounting hardware and replace the Wheel Angle Sensor with a new OEM unit.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the sensor harness and restore battery power.

   Calibration

   You must perform a Steering Controller Calibration / Wheel Angle Sensor Calibration using John Deere Service ADVISOR or the in-cab display. The AutoTrac system will remain disabled until the new sensor's center, left, and right limits are successfully learned.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the stored 523826.04 fault code and test the steering system for proper operation.
