Issue description

The TSC or SFA control unit is measuring an excessively high electrical current at the signal input for the Y69 solenoid valve. This indicates a short circuit to ground in the solenoid's wiring harness or an internal short within the solenoid coil itself. When this occurs, the suspension system may default to a rigid mode, or the valve may overheat and malfunction.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness from the TSC/SFA control unit to the Y69 solenoid valve for chafed insulation, melted wires, or pinched areas shorting to ground.

  2. Test the solenoid for internal shorts by disconnecting it and measuring resistance between the pins and a clean machine ground (continuity indicates a short).

  3. Check the solenoid connector for dirt, moisture, or corrosion that could be bridging the pins and causing a high-current draw.

  4. Isolate the control unit by turning the key on with the solenoid disconnected to see if the code changes to 'Current Too Low' (523847.05). If the high current code persists, the short is in the harness or control unit.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

    Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and ensure the front suspension is safely supported or depressurized to prevent sudden dropping when the valve is removed.

  2. Locate the Valve

    Locate the Y69 pressure build-up solenoid on the front axle TLS suspension manifold block.

  3. Disconnect

    Unplug the electrical harness connector from the Y69 solenoid.

  4. Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

    If your diagnostic checks revealed a short in the harness, cut out the damaged section of wire and splice in a new section using weather-sealed, heat-shrink butt connectors.

  5. Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)

    If the solenoid failed the ground continuity test, remove the retaining nut at the top of the coil and slide the faulty coil off the valve stem (or unthread the entire cartridge valve depending on the specific manifold design).

  6. Install New Part

    Slide the new solenoid coil into place and tighten the retaining nut to the OEM torque specification.

  7. Reconnect

    Plug the electrical harness back into the solenoid.

  8. Clear and Test

    Turn the tractor's ignition on, clear the stored TSC/SFA 523847.06 fault code using the in-cab diagnostic monitor, and test the TLS system by operating the tractor to ensure the suspension builds pressure normally and the code does not return.
