John Deere 523848.13 – ATC: Adjusting Motor for Air Distribution Not Calibrated

   Verify that the air distribution flaps can move freely without any mechanical binding, obstructions, or dirt that could block the motor from completing its calibration sweep.

   Visually inspect the adjusting motor (B132 or Y220) for signs of physical damage or heavy dirt accumulation.

   Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors at the motor for bad, loose, widened, slid-back, or corroded contacts, as poor voltage/ground connections will cause calibration to fail.

   Clear Active Codes

   Turn the ignition switch off and back on, or use the CommandCenter display to acknowledge and clear the code to see if it is a transient communication error.

   Initiate Calibration

   Use the John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface to initiate the calibration procedure for the adjusting motor (e.g., access ATC Address 023).

   Verify Operation

   Once calibration is complete, delete any stored diagnostic trouble codes.

   Manual Operational Check

   Manually cycle through the HVAC modes (Defrost, Panel, Floor, Auto) to ensure the motor accurately controls the flaps according to the system commands.

   Replace if Failed

   If the calibration fails repeatedly and wiring/mechanical binding have been ruled out, the internal potentiometer of the adjusting motor is likely faulty, and the motor must be replaced.
