Issue description
The supply voltage (BAT) for the stepper motor controlling the Electronic Selective Control Valve 13 (E-SCV XIII) has exceeded 16 volts. This overvoltage condition can damage the internal components of the stepper motor and prevent the valve from functioning correctly.

Check the cause
Verify overall system voltage while running with a multimeter to check for a faulty alternator voltage regulator causing system-wide overvoltage (above 16V).
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the E-SCV XIII stepper motor for signs of chafing, melting, or shorts to a higher voltage power source.
Disconnect the stepper motor connector and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Test supply voltage at the stepper motor harness connector with the key ON to confirm if the voltage is actually exceeding 16V at the component level.
Verify that the CAN Bus communication lines between the SCO controller and the stepper motor drivers are intact and not shorted.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Locate the Valve
Locate the E-SCV XIII stepper motor (typically mounted directly to the hydraulic valve stack at the rear or mid-mount of the tractor).
Address Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power in the harness, trace the wire back to the SCO controller or fuse panel. Repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.
Address Alternator Issues
If the entire tractor is experiencing overvoltage (e.g., 17V+ while running), replace the alternator or its voltage regulator.
Replace the Stepper Motor
If the wiring and system voltage are perfectly normal (12V-14V) but the code remains active, the stepper motor's internal circuitry has likely failed and is misreporting its voltage. Disconnect the electrical connector, unbolt the stepper motor from the E-SCV valve body, install the new stepper motor and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications, and reconnect the electrical harness.
Calibrate and Test
Reconnect the battery. Clear the stored SCO fault codes using a diagnostic tool. Start the tractor and operate the E-SCV XIII function to ensure the code does not return and the valve operates smoothly.
