John Deere 523888.04 – SIC: A37 - Stepper Motor E-SCV 2, Temperature Too Low
Issue description
The temperature reading of the stepper motor for E-SCV 2 drops below 45°C (49°F), which usually indicates an open circuit, a failed internal temperature sensor within the stepper motor, or a wiring harness issue.

Check the cause
Inspect harness W32 (the stepper motor wiring harness) for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.
Disconnect the 4-pin plug (X465) at the E-SCV 2 stepper motor (Component A37) and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.
Use a multimeter to check for continuity between the SIC controller and the X465 connector to rule out a broken wire in the CAN-BUS or power supply lines.
Ensure you do not also have code 523888.18 active, which indicates low supply voltage combined with low hydraulic oil temperature.
Repair steps
Relieve Hydraulic Pressure
Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any trapped pressure in the SCV block before beginning work.
Disconnect the Motor
Unplug the 4-pin electrical connector (X465) from the E-SCV 2 stepper motor.
Remove the Stepper Motor
Unbolt the faulty stepper motor (A37) from the E-SCV 2 valve slice on the rear hydraulic block.
Install the New Motor
Mount the replacement stepper motor to the valve block and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the X465 connector back into the new motor.
Calibrate the Valve
Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR (or use the tractor's onboard CommandCenter diagnostic interface if equipped). Navigate to the SIC module and perform the E-SCV calibration procedure so the controller can learn the end-stops of the new stepper motor.
Test Operation
Start the tractor, warm up the hydraulic oil, and actuate SCV 2 to ensure smooth operation and verify the fault code has cleared.
