John Deere 523888.18 – SIC: Stepper Motor E-SCV 2 (Electro-Hydraulic Selective Control Valve 2) – Hydraulic Oil Temperature and Supply Voltage Too Low
Issue description
The SIC controller has detected that the system voltage at the stepper motor of E-SCV 2 (Component A37) has dropped too low (specifically between 9 and 11 volts) while the hydraulic oil temperature is also cold (typically below 25°C / 13°F).

Check the cause
Wait until the hydraulic oil has warmed up to operating temperature (above 25°C / 13°F)
Test the battery voltage and alternator output to ensure the charging system is healthy and voltage at the stepper motor does not drop below 11 volts
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the E-SCV 2 stepper motor (Component A37) for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged wires
Check ISOBUS connections between the tractor and implement, especially if Tractor-Implement Automation is deactivated
Repair steps
Warm up hydraulic oil and clear codes
Start the tractor and allow the hydraulic oil to reach normal operating temperature. Clear the codes to see if SIC 523888.18 returns.
Check voltage at stepper motor
If the code persists, use a multimeter to back-probe the connector at the E-SCV 2 stepper motor. Verify that it is receiving full system voltage (12V+).
Repair wiring harness
If voltage is low at the connector, trace the harness back to the SIC controller to repair the short, break, or corroded ground causing the voltage drop.
Replace stepper motor
If the voltage is correct, the hydraulic oil is warm, and the ISOBUS connection is secure, the E-SCV 2 stepper motor itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced.
Calibrate new valve
After replacing the stepper motor, use a John Deere Service ADVISOR tool to perform the 'E-SCV 2 Stepper Motor A37, Operational Check' and calibrate the new valve.
