John Deere 523894.01 – Rear Chassis Module (SCC): Low Voltage On Rear SCV Valves 4
Issue description
The controller is detecting a supply voltage to the #4 Electronic Selective Control Valve (E-SCV) stepper motor that is below the acceptable operating threshold. The stepper motor is responsible for physically moving the hydraulic valve spool to control hydraulic flow to the rear remotes; without proper voltage, the #4 remote will fail to operate or respond erratically.

Check the cause
System Voltage Check: Verify that the tractor's battery and alternator are providing proper system voltage (usually ~12.5V resting, ~14V running).
Harness Inspection (W32 Harness): Inspect the W32 wiring harness, which supplies power to the stepper motors. Look for chafing, pinch points, or melted insulation between the Rear Chassis Module (SCC) and the rear SCV stack.
Connector X467 Check: Disconnect plug X467 (the specific connector for the E-SCV 4 stepper motor). Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-out terminals.
Voltage Drop Test: Back-probe the connector while the system is powered to see if the voltage drops significantly when the SCC attempts to actuate the valve. If voltage is good at the harness but drops when plugged in, the stepper motor likely has an internal short.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Shut off the engine and actuate the SCV levers/controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system before working on the valves.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental shorting or module damage.
Remove the Stepper Motor
Disconnect the X467 electrical connector from the #4 SCV stepper motor. Unbolt the stepper motor housing from the SCV valve block.
Clean and Prep
Clean the mating surface on the SCV valve block. Ensure no dirt or debris enters the hydraulic system.
Install New Seals
If the SCV flange was separated or seals are worn, install a new SCV flange seal kit to prevent hydraulic leaks.
Install the New Motor
Mount the new E-SCV stepper motor to the valve block and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the X467 plug.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Power on the tractor. You must use the John Deere Service Advisor tool (or the tractor's CommandCenter display, depending on the model) to perform an interactive test and calibrate the new E-SCV stepper motor so the SCC learns its end-stops.
