Check the cause

  1. Verify that the hand brake or park lock is not accidentally engaged while driving

  2. Cycle the key switch or restart the engine to attempt a vehicle system recovery from transient communication errors

  3. Check the physical park lock mechanism and hand brake lever for signs of wear, damage, or debris obstruction that might prevent the switch from fully disengaging

  4. Check for a faulty ground speed sensor providing a false speed signal (this can trigger the code even if the tractor is stationary)

  5. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the hand brake switch/park lock sensor and the CAB/TIQ module for loose pins, corrosion, or damaged wires

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

Park the tractor safely on level ground, turn off the engine, and chock the wheels.

  2. Locate the Sensor/Switch

Depending on the model, locate the secondary hand brake switch (usually near the hand brake lever assembly in the cab) or the park lock sensor (located on the transmission housing).

  3. Test the Switch

Disconnect the electrical connector. Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity in both the engaged and disengaged positions.

  4. Replace if Faulty

If the switch fails the continuity test or is physically broken, remove the mounting hardware and replace it with a new OEM switch.

  5. Reassemble and Reconnect

Install the new switch, reconnect the wiring harness, and ensure the connector is seated firmly.

  6. Clear Codes and Test

Restart the tractor to perform a soft reset of the control module. Disengage the park lock/hand brake and operate the vehicle slowly in a forward gear to verify the code does not return.
