Issue description

The control unit is measuring an abnormally high amp draw at the signal input of the solenoid valve responsible for lowering the suspension (Y66 Solenoid Valve). This typically points to a short to ground in the wiring circuit, a short to battery voltage on either the high or low side of the drive circuit, or an internal short within the solenoid coil itself.

Check the cause

  1. Restart the engine to verify if the active DTC reappears (System Reset)

  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness routing from the SFA/CSC module to the suspension lowering solenoid (Y66) for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points

  3. Disconnect the harness at the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or debris

  4. Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter to check for an internal short (near-zero ohms)

Repair steps

  1. Prepare machine for service

    Turn off the key switch, place the machine in park, and relieve any hydraulic pressure if required by your specific model's service manual.

  2. Locate solenoid valve

    Locate the suspension lowering solenoid valve (Y66 for TLS front axles, or the respective cab suspension/ride control solenoid).

  3. Disconnect harness

    Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the solenoid.

  4. Test wiring harness

    Using a multimeter, test the harness side for continuity to ground on the signal wire. If a short to ground is found, trace the harness back to the SFA/CSC module and repair or replace the damaged wiring section.

  5. Remove faulty coil

    If the wiring harness is intact, the fault is likely an internally shorted solenoid coil. Remove the retaining nut/clip holding the coil to the valve stem and slide the old coil off.

  6. Install new coil

    Install the new OEM solenoid coil, secure it, and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Verify repair

    Turn the key switch on, clear the stored fault codes via the CommandCenter or diagnostic tool, and cycle the suspension system (raise and lower) to verify the repair.
