John Deere 523949.03 – SFA / CSC: Suspension Raise Solenoid Circuit High Voltage
Issue description
High Voltage condition in the circuit of the solenoid valve responsible for raising the suspension, typically pointing to a short to power (battery voltage) on either the high or low side of the circuit.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connections routing to the suspension raise solenoid (front axle block or cab suspension block) for chafing, melted insulation, pinch points, water ingress, corrosion, or backed-out pins.
Check for shorts to power by disconnecting the solenoid and using a multimeter to probe the harness-side connector for unintended battery voltage when the system is keyed on but not commanded to raise.
Test the solenoid coil by measuring the resistance across the pins of the suspension raise solenoid to check if it is internally shorted (out of specification).
Verify the power supply by checking the fuses and relays associated with the SFA or CSC modules to ensure the control circuit is receiving clean, regulated power.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Before servicing any hydraulic suspension components, lower the tractor/cab completely and relieve all hydraulic pressure in the suspension accumulators and valve block to prevent injury.
Isolate the Battery
Turn off the battery disconnect switch or remove the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power in the harness, splice and repair the damaged wire using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors, or replace the affected harness section.
Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty 'Up' solenoid on the suspension valve block. Unscrew the retaining nut and slide the solenoid coil off the valve cartridge, OR unthread the entire solenoid valve cartridge from the manifold (depending on the specific valve block design). Install the new solenoid/valve and torque to the manufacturer's specification.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical harness, restore battery power, and clear the 523949.03 fault code using a diagnostic tool. Start the tractor and command the suspension to raise and lower to verify the repair and ensure the code does not return.
