John Deere 523951.14 – SFA / TSC: SFA Not Calibrated Or Out Of Calibrated Range

Issue description

Triggered when the Triple-Link Suspension (TLS) or Suspended Front Axle (SFA) system has not yet been successfully calibrated, or the sensor values recorded during calibration fall outside the acceptable operational range.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the tractor is completely stationary on a flat, stable surface, as any wheel speed detection will cause the calibration to fail

  2. Check that the engine speed is within the required range (100-500 rpm) during calibration

  3. Inspect the TLS position sensor (B53) and TLS oil pressure sensor (B167) voltages, ensuring the position sensor calibration range does not drop below 1.5 Volts

  4. Verify that the solenoid valves for raising, lowering, and pressure reduction (Y66, Y67, Y68, Y69) are correctly connected and not mixed up

  5. Check CAN BUS communication for engine and wheel speed data integrity

Repair steps

  1. Prepare the Tractor

    Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Place the transmission in PARK to prevent any movement during the procedure.

  2. Check Suspension Cylinders

    Ensure the front suspension cylinders are not fully extended before beginning.

  3. Initiate Calibration

    Access the tractor's CommandCenter display or connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR tool. Navigate to the SFA/TSC module and initiate the front axle calibration procedure.

  4. Follow Prompts

    Follow the on-screen prompts, which may require you to adjust engine RPM or wait while the system automatically raises and lowers the axle to learn the upper and lower limits.

  5. Verify Completion

    A successful calibration will conclude with the display showing 'END' without any error codes.

  6. Address Failures

    If the calibration fails and the code returns, use a multimeter to test the wiring circuit for the TLS position sensor (B53) and the TLS pressure reduction solenoid valves. Repair any shorts or open circuits, replace the faulty component, and repeat the calibration.
