Issue description

The control unit is detecting a park lock engagement signal (or pressure signal) even though the forward/reverse drive lever is not in the park lock position. The system believes the park lock is engaged while the tractor is in gear, which causes the control unit to prevent the park lock from disengaging or defaults the transmission to neutral. This code can also be generated by mistake during a transmission calibration process.

Check the cause

  1. Perform an operational reset by restarting the tractor and operating it slowly in forward gear to see if the code returns.

  2. Inspect the forward/reverse drive lever to ensure it physically moves into correct positions and the park position sensor functions properly.

  3. Verify the physical park lock mechanism on the transmission is not mechanically stuck, bound, or damaged.

  4. Check all wiring and connectors between the lever, transmission sensors, and the TIA/ACU/UIC module for security, damage, or corrosion.

  5. If the code appeared during transmission calibration, reset the calibration process and ensure it is performed strictly according to the manual.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Test

    Clear the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and restart the tractor. Shift the forward/reverse lever out of park. If the code immediately returns, proceed to hardware testing.

  2. Test the Lever Sensor

    Use a diagnostic tool (like John Deere Service ADVISOR) to monitor the live state of the Forward/Reverse Lever Park Position Sensor. Toggle the lever in and out of park. If the sensor state does not change, the lever assembly or its internal sensor is faulty.

  3. Test the Pressure Sensor

    Monitor the Park Lock Pressure Sensor. If the lever shows 'Out of Park' but the pressure sensor still reads a pressure signal indicating engagement, the issue lies at the transmission level (faulty pressure sensor or stuck valve).

    Pin out the wiring harness between the faulty sensor and the cab module (TIA/ACU/UIC). Look for shorts to power or ground that could be sending a false engagement signal.
