John Deere 523961.12 – TIA / UIC / PL1 / PL3: The Park Lock Can Not Be Engaged As The Tractor Speed Is Too High, Or The Park Lock Pressure Is Low.

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated when the control software detects a ground/travel speed of more than 0.1 km/h (0.06 mph) for longer than 0.7 seconds after the park lock has been commanded to engage. It can also trigger if the park lock is engaged while the vehicle is moving at a speed greater than 0.5 km/h. This indicates a malfunction where the park lock is supposed to be engaged, but the vehicle is still moving or the system pressure is insufficient to hold it.

   Verify if the park lock is physically engaging and that there is no mechanical slipping when applied.

   Inspect the travel/ground speed sensor to ensure it is providing accurate readings and not sending a false motion signal while stationary.

   Check the mechanical components of the park lock for any signs of damage, wear, or obstructions.

   Verify that all wiring harnesses and connectors related to the park lock actuator and the travel speed sensor are secure and free from damage or corrosion.

   Use a diagnostic tool to read and clear codes, measure transmission output speed versus wheel speed, and perform interactive tests on the park lock actuator.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or loose connections at the speed sensor or park lock actuator, repair or replace the affected harness sections.

   Replace the Speed Sensor

   If the ground speed sensor is faulty or providing erratic/incorrect signals to the TIA/UIC, remove and replace the sensor.

   Replace the Park Lock Actuator

   If the actuator is failing to engage the lock mechanically or is suffering from low pressure, drain the necessary fluid, remove the faulty park lock actuator valve, and install a new OEM replacement.

   Address Mechanical Wear

   If the actuator is fine but the tractor still rolls, inspect and replace internal mechanical park lock components (such as the park pawl).

   Software Update

   Ensure the tractor's control software (TIA/UIC/PL3) is updated to the latest version, and reprogram/calibrate the transmission and park lock settings if necessary.
