523964.05

John Deere 523964.05 – SFA / TSC: Y68 Solenoid Valve for Reducing Pressure (TLS), Current Too Low

Issue description

Triggered when the control unit measures an abnormally low electrical current at the signal input of the Y68 solenoid valve, indicating an open circuit or short to a supply lead. The front axle suspension may not lower or level correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical connector at the Y68 solenoid valve to ensure it is properly seated, clean, and free of damage or corrosion.

  2. Examine the wiring harness between the Y68 solenoid and the SFA/TSC control unit for any signs of open circuits (broken wires) or shorts to a supply lead.

  3. Inspect the SFA/TSC control unit for any internal faults or power supply issues that could affect its ability to measure current accurately.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Component

Locate the Y68 Solenoid Valve (Pressure Down / Reducing Pressure Solenoid) on the front axle TLS valve block.

  2. Harness Inspection & Testing

Disconnect the harness from the Y68 solenoid. Using a multimeter, test the wiring back to the Front Chassis Module (SFA) for continuity to rule out an open circuit, and test for voltage to rule out a short to a supply lead. Repair or replace the wiring harness if a fault is found.

  3. Test the Solenoid

If the wiring is intact, test the Y68 solenoid valve itself. If the solenoid coil is internally open or faulty, remove and replace the Y68 solenoid valve.

  4. Control Unit Replacement

If both the wiring circuit and the solenoid valve test perfectly, the fault may lie within the SFA/TSC control unit's current measurement circuitry. Repair or replace the control unit if necessary.

  5. Clear and Calibrate

Clear the fault codes and cycle the TLS system to ensure the front suspension lowers and operates correctly without triggering the code.
