John Deere 523973.13 – CSC: Cab Suspension Sensor Not Calibrated Correctly / Cab Suspension Calibration Fault

Issue description

This code is generated if, at the end of a calibration or bleeding/calibrating procedure, the control software detects a voltage that is out of range at the cab suspension position sensor. As a result, the calibration is canceled, and the previously saved values remain in use. The system will typically revert to its previous mode with limited vehicle functionality.

Check the cause

  1. Check for other active CSC 523973.XX codes first, as underlying issues (like a sensor failing to reach a target position) will trigger this calibration fault.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connections to the cab suspension sensor (located on the left rear of the cab) for damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Pay special attention to the 5-volt reference wire just behind the connector, as it is known to break.

  3. Measure the voltage at the cab suspension sensor to ensure it is receiving its 5V reference and that the signal voltage falls within the acceptable range.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring/Harness

If the 5V wire or connector is damaged, repair the wiring harness to restore proper voltage to the sensor.

  2. Replace the Sensor

If the wiring is intact but the sensor voltage remains out of range or erratic, replace the Cab Suspension Position Sensor.

  3. Update Software

Ensure the CSC control software is up-to-date and configured correctly to handle the calibration process.

  4. Recalibrate the System

After addressing the physical issue, you must run the cab suspension calibration procedure via the tractor's diagnostic monitor.

  5. Test Functionality

Once calibration is successful, test the cab suspension system (raising, lowering, and bleeding) to confirm it operates correctly and maintains proper leveling.
