523973.14

John Deere 523973.14 – CSC (Comfort System Controller / Cab Suspension Controller): Cab Suspension Position Sensor Has Never Been Calibrated

Issue description

This code is triggered when the control software detects that the position sensor for the cab suspension lacks valid calibration data. This typically occurs if the control software has been recently reprogrammed, if the controller was reset to factory settings, or if a new position sensor was installed.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 8225R
  • 8245R
  • 8270R
  • 8295R
  • 8320R
  • 8335R
  • 8345R
  • 8370R
  • 8400R

Check the cause

  1. Check for related CSC codes such as 523973.02 or 523973.13. If present, address them first as they indicate a hard failure of the sensor rather than just missing calibration data.

  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the cab suspension position sensor for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  3. Measure the voltage at the cab suspension sensor using a diagnostic tool or multimeter. The mid-position voltage should fall within the acceptable range of 2 to 3 volts. If completely out of range, the sensor is likely defective.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare tractor

Park the tractor on a flat, level surface and ensure the engine is running to provide hydraulic pressure.

  2. Access diagnostics

Access the tractor's CommandCenter display or connect the John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool.

  3. Navigate to settings

Navigate to the Cab Suspension (CSC) module settings.

  4. Initiate calibration

Select and initiate the Cab Suspension Calibration (this may also be listed as a bleeding and calibrating process).

  5. Allow calibration

Allow the system to automatically raise and lower the cab to learn the physical end stops and establish the level position.

  6. Cycle ignition

If the calibration completes successfully, cycle the ignition key off and back on. The fault code should clear.

  7. Replace sensor if needed

If the calibration aborts and throws a new code (like 523973.13), the sensor is providing out-of-range data and must be replaced, after which you must repeat steps 1-6.
