John Deere 523973.17 – CSC (Comfort System Controller): Cab Raise Position Not Achieved Rear Chassis (CSC) / Cab Suspension All the Way Up During Calibration, Incorrect Sensor Signal

Issue description

During the cab suspension calibration process, the cab position sensor is sending an incorrect signal when the cab is fully raised. Specifically, the control software expects the sensor voltage to exceed 3 Volts when the cab reaches its maximum height. If the voltage stays below this threshold, the calibration is canceled, and the code is logged.

Check the cause

  1. Check for any other active CSC 523973.XX codes (such as 523973.13 or 523973.16) and address those first, as they may indicate underlying pressure or solenoid issues.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connections leading to the cab suspension sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose pins. Pay special attention to the 5-volt supply wire just behind the connector.

  3. Measure the voltage at the cab suspension sensor using a multimeter or Service ADVISOR while commanding the cab to the fully raised position. Verify if the voltage exceeds the required 3 V.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If the 5-volt reference wire or signal wire is broken near the connector, repair the harness using an approved splice kit.

  2. Replace the Sensor

If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails to output more than 3 V when the cab is physically raised all the way, the sensor is internally faulty and must be replaced.

  3. Install the New Sensor

Mount the new cab position sensor on the rear of the cab and connect the wiring harness.

  4. Perform Sensor Calibration

Once the repair or replacement is complete, you must use the diagnostic software/monitor to recalibrate the cab suspension sensor. The system will bleed, lower, and raise the cab to learn the new voltage parameters.

  5. Test System Functionality

After a successful calibration, test the cab suspension system during operation to confirm it levels correctly and maintains proper function.
