523974.03

John Deere 523974.03 – SFA (Suspended Front Axle) / TSC (Tractor Steering Control): SFA Oil Pressure Sensor High Voltage

Issue description

The control module detects that the voltage at the signal output of the TLS (Triple-Link Suspension / front-wheel drive axle) oil pressure sensor is too high, specifically exceeding 4.75 volts. This causes the TLS system to fail to accurately measure oil pressure, leading to incorrect pressure regulation, disabled front axle suspension, and vehicle stability issues.

Check the cause

  1. Back-probe or use a diagnostic tool to verify the signal output voltage of the TLS oil pressure sensor (B167) to confirm if it is actually stuck above the 4.75V threshold.

  2. Examine the wiring harness and connectors leading to the oil pressure sensor for signs of damage, corrosion, loose connections, or a short-to-power in the wiring.

  3. Ensure the hydraulic system is functioning correctly and providing accurate pressure readings to rule out a severe mechanical overpressure situation.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect and Inspect

Disconnect the harness from the B167 TLS oil pressure sensor. Inspect the pins for corrosion or pushed-back terminals.

  2. Test Wiring

Test the circuit for a short to power. If a wiring fault is found, repair or replace the damaged section of the harness.

  3. Replace Sensor

If the wiring and hydraulic pressure are verified to be normal but the sensor continues to output out-of-range high voltage, the sensor has failed internally. Remove and replace the TLS oil pressure sensor.

  4. Recalibrate

After replacing the sensor, follow the manufacturer's instructions to bleed the system and recalibrate the TLS system to ensure accurate pressure readings and suspension leveling.
