524032.01

John Deere 524032.01 – TIA / UIC: S80 Reverse Drive Lever, Forward or Reverse Position and Power Zero Position Faulty

Issue description

Conflicting or faulty signal coming from the S80 Reverse Drive Lever. The control unit receives an active signal for the forward/reverse position or Power Zero position when the lever is not physically in those positions, or there is no active signal when there should be one. This indicates a fault in the detection switches inside the lever or the signaling circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 6230
  • 6330
  • 6430
  • 6000 series
  • 7000 series

Check the cause

  1. Verify the physical operation of the S80 Reverse Drive Lever, ensuring it moves smoothly between Forward, Neutral, Reverse, and Park without sticking or mechanical binding.

  2. Perform an operational check of the reverse drive lever (S80) as outlined in Section 245, Group UIC of the John Deere technical manual.

  3. Check the wiring harness and connectors associated with the reverse drive lever for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  4. Verify the 12-volt power supply to the reverse drive lever.

  5. Check for any loose or damaged wires in the CAN BUS network between the UIC, TCU, and PLC.

Repair steps

  1. Reset the System

Move the reverse drive lever to the neutral or park position to clear the safety lockout.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring, chafed harnesses, or corroded pins at the S80 lever connector, repair or replace the damaged sections of the harness.

  3. Replace the Lever

If the wiring and power supply are intact but the control unit is still receiving simultaneous/conflicting signals, the internal switches of the lever have failed. The S80 Reverse Drive Lever assembly must be replaced.

  4. Update Software

Ensure the TIA/UIC control software is updated to the latest version from the manufacturer to resolve communication reliability issues.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • S80 Reverse Drive Lever (Left-Hand Reverser Switch)

Ensure the replacement lever matches the transmission type (e.g., AutoPowr/IVT vs. PowrQuad), as the internal switch configurations differ.
