John Deere 524037.02 – CCU (Chassis Control Unit / Central Control Unit): Main Control Module Has Noted An Issue With The Voltage On The 4WD Circuit

The controller detects an illogical state from the MFWD switch—most commonly, the 'Brake Assist' and 'Auto' switch inputs are detected as being turned ON simultaneously for longer than 3 seconds. It indicates a short circuit, a stuck switch, or a voltage mismatch in the 4WD selector circuit.

   Perform a system reset by placing the tractor in park, shutting off the engine, and restarting it to clear potential temporary communication errors.

   Perform a switch actuation test by cycling the MFWD switch through its positions (Off, Auto, Brake Assist) to check if it feels physically stuck, loose, or fails to click into detents.

   Inspect the wiring harness directly behind the MFWD switch on the operator console for chafed wires or melted connector pins that could cause the Auto and Brake Assist circuits to short together.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Ensure the tractor is completely powered down before beginning electrical work.

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the operator control console/dash trim panel where the MFWD rocker switch is mounted.

   Access the back of the switch panel.

   Reach behind the panel and depress the locking tab on the electrical pigtail to disconnect the wiring harness from the MFWD switch.

   Disconnect the switch from the tractor's wiring harness.

   Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the MFWD switch body and push it outward through the front of the console panel.

   Remove the faulty switch from the console.

   Snap the new OEM MFWD switch into the panel until the retaining tabs click into place.

   Install the replacement switch.

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the back of the switch.

   Ensure the locking tab clicks to secure the connection.

   Reinstall the console trim panel and reconnect the battery.

   Restore the console and power.

   Start the tractor and verify that the MFWD engages properly and that fault code 524037.02 has cleared from the CommandCenter display.

   Test the repair to ensure the fault is resolved.
