John Deere 524156.07 – PTA / TCU: Amperage at Hydrostatic Unit does not Match the Registered Speed
Issue description
The electrical current (amperage) at the proportional solenoids of the hydrostatic unit does not match the registered ratio between the transmission input speed and the speed of the hydrostatic unit, causing the tractor to restrict operation and enter a protective 'come-home' (limp) mode.

Check the cause
Address any related DTCs first, specifically those related to general supply voltage.
Inspect the hydrostatic unit for visible damage and check all associated wiring and connectors for damage, disconnection, or corrosion.
Use a multimeter to measure the current flow to the proportional solenoids (Y1 / Y2) to verify correct amperage draw.
Verify the accuracy of the Transmission Input Speed Sensor (B61) and the Hydrostatic Speed Sensor (B62).
Conduct pressure tests on the transmission following the 'AutoPowr/IVT Transmission — Test Result Table' and compare with standard values.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks reveal open circuits, shorts, or corroded pins in the hydrostatic unit harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring/connectors to ensure proper electrical connections.
Replace Faulty Solenoids
If the proportional solenoids are not drawing the correct current during multimeter testing, remove and replace the defective solenoid(s).
Replace Faulty Sensors
If the transmission input speed sensor or hydrostatic speed sensor is providing erratic or incorrect readings, replace the sensor.
Hydrostatic Unit Repair
If pressure tests or visual inspections indicate internal mechanical failure within the hydrostatic unit, repair or replace the defective internal components.
Recalibration
After replacing any sensors, solenoids, or hydrostatic components, you must ensure the hydrostatic unit and associated sensors are properly calibrated using the John Deere service tool.
Clear and Test
Clear the fault code from the PTA/TCU and test drive the tractor to ensure it shifts out of 'come-home' mode and operates normally.
