Check the cause
Restart the engine to verify if the active Service Code reappears, as communication faults can sometimes be corrected by resetting the CAN BUS modules
Press the select switch on the CommandCenter to acknowledge the alert and see if it clears
Inspect the cab and chassis fuse panels for blown fuses related to switched supply voltage (e.g., Fuse F24 on 7030 series tractors)
Examine the wiring harness and connectors leading to the right brake pedal switch for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose pins
Use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the brake switch/sensor to ensure it is receiving proper operating voltage
Verify your transmission type (AutoPowr/IVT vs. PowerShift) to ensure the switch state and sensor voltage are not conflicting
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, remove the key, and engage the parking brake.
Locate the Switch
Access the pedal assembly under the cab console to locate the right brake pedal switch.
Disconnect Harness
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the right brake pedal switch.
Remove the Faulty Switch
Unbolt or unclip the mounting hardware securing the switch to the pedal bracket.
Install the New Switch
Mount the replacement switch into the bracket and secure the hardware. Ensure the switch plunger makes proper contact with the pedal arm when at rest.
Reconnect and Reassemble
Plug the electrical harness back into the new switch.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the ignition on. Acknowledge and clear any stored codes on the CommandCenter display. Start the tractor and test the right brake pedal to ensure the brake lights illuminate, the transmission disengages properly (if applicable), and the 524157.19 code does not return.
Recalibration (If necessary)
If the code persists on IVT models, the Brake Control Unit (BRC) may require a system reset and sensor recalibration using John Deere Service ADVISOR.
Parts you might need
(1)Right Brake Pedal Switch / Brake Interlock Switch
Exact part numbers vary heavily by the specific tractor series and transmission type. A VIN-specific lookup is required. Specify if your machine has an AutoPowr/IVT transmission (requires a dual switch/sensor assembly) or PowerShift (requires a basic contact switch).
