Check the cause

  1. Restart the engine to verify if the active Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) reappears, as a system reset may clear temporary communication errors.

  2. Examine the wiring harness connected to the left brake pedal switch/sensor for any signs of damage, disconnection, or wear.

  3. Ensure that all connectors at the pedal are clean, secure, and free from corrosion or bent pins.

  4. Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to test the left brake pedal switch/potentiometer to verify it is functioning correctly and sending the proper voltage sweep when depressed.

  5. Check the CAN High and CAN Low communication lines between the pedal sensor and the CCU/BRC for continuity and shorts.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Sensor

Locate the left brake pedal switch/sensor at the base of the brake pedal assembly inside the cab footwell.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the sensor.

  4. Remove

Remove the mounting hardware (screws, bolts, or retaining clips) holding the switch/sensor in place and remove the faulty unit.

  5. Install

Mount the new left brake pedal sensor and secure it with the hardware.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

  7. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position. Acknowledge and clear the service alerts on the CommandCenter display. Test the brake pedals to ensure the code does not return and that the brake lights and braking functions operate normally.
