John Deere 524170.19 – TCU: Incorrect CAN BUS Message, Park Lock Condition from UIC

The UIC control unit is unable to determine the value for the park lock condition (IPLS). Because it cannot determine this state, it cannot provide the CAN BUS with the relevant data. A transmitted replacement value is sent over the CAN BUS, which causes the TCU to log this fault code.

   Check for companion codes (such as UIC 523961.07 or UIC 523961.12) that indicate faults with the park lock engagement or travel speed sensors.

   Physically inspect the park lock mechanism to ensure it engages and disengages correctly without mechanical binding, slipping, or obstruction.

   Verify the reverse drive lever is in the correct position and its internal position sensors are functioning properly.

   Inspect the travel speed sensor for erratic readings that suggest the tractor is moving while the park lock is commanded.

   Inspect the CAN BUS wiring and connectors between the UIC, park lock sensors, and TCU for corrosion, loose pins, or chafed wires.

   Connect a John Deere Service ADVISOR diagnostic tool, clear the codes, and cycle the reverse drive lever into and out of the Park position to see if the code returns.

   Use the diagnostic tool to monitor the live data for the Park Lock Condition (IPLS) and the Reverse Drive Lever position.

   Repair Wiring

   If the live data drops out intermittently, trace the wiring harness from the reverse drive lever and park lock mechanism to the UIC. Repair any damaged CAN BUS lines or replace corroded connectors.

   If the wiring is intact but the UIC still cannot read the park lock state, replace the faulty sensor (either the park lock sensor on the transmission or the reverse drive lever assembly in the cab).
