John Deere 524173.17 – PTR (Power Train Reverser): Clutch Pedal Voltage Low

   Inspect the clutch pedal position sensor (potentiometer) for physical damage, misalignment, or a disconnected linkage/ball stud.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors routed to the clutch pedal position sensor for loose connections, corrosion, pinched wires, or chafing that could cause a short to ground or an open circuit.

   Use a multimeter to test the sensor's reference voltage and signal return circuits to verify there are no short or open circuits causing the low voltage reading.

   Check the PTR control unit for any other active diagnostic trouble codes that might indicate a broader reference voltage issue.

   Ensure the PTR control unit software is up-to-date with the latest manufacturer patches.

   Prepare machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the battery negative (—) cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access clutch pedal assembly

   Remove the center control console cover (or lower dash panel, depending on the cab configuration) to access the clutch pedal assembly.

   Disconnect sensor

   Locate the clutch pedal position sensor and carefully disconnect its wire connector.

   Remove linkage

   Remove the ball stud or plastic linkage connecting the sensor arm to the clutch pedal.

   Remove faulty sensor

   Remove the two mounting screws securing the clutch pedal position sensor and remove the faulty unit.

   Install the new sensor and tighten the mounting screws.

   Reattach linkage
