John Deere 524190.14 – TIA / UIC: INFORMATION FOR OPERATOR: Anti-Jack-Knife Control Activated
Issue description
This is an operator information diagnostic trouble code (DTC) generated when the control software detects a dangerous change in the ratio of the front and rear axle operating speeds while the front-wheel drive (MFWD) is disengaged. To prevent the tractor and implement from jack-knifing, the system automatically intervenes to ensure vehicle stability and safety.

Check the cause
Verify if the tractor was operating in conditions that naturally lead to jack-knifing (e.g., heavy trailing loads on steep declines or slippery surfaces). Adjust driving speed and load distribution to see if the code clears.
Inspect the ISOBUS implement connector for dirt, corrosion, or loose pins, which can cause TIA features to deactivate or throw erroneous codes.
Use a diagnostic tool to verify live data from the front and rear axle/wheel speed sensors, looking for erratic or dropping signals.
Ensure the front-wheel drive (MFWD) system is functioning correctly and physically engaging/disengaging as commanded. Inspect for mechanical binding or clutch issues.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the park brake, and turn off the engine.
Clean and Secure ISOBUS
Disconnect the ISOBUS implement connector, clean the terminals with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect it.
Test Axle Speed Sensors
Locate the front and rear wheel/axle speed sensors. Inspect the wiring harnesses for chafing, rodent damage, or melted insulation.
Replace Faulty Sensors
Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining bolt. Carefully pull the sensor out of the housing (clean any debris around the port so it doesn't fall into the axle/transmission). Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor and install it. Torque the retaining bolt to OEM specifications.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery/harness, clear the stored 524190.14 code via the CommandCenter display or a diagnostic tool, and test drive the tractor under load to ensure the axle speed ratios read correctly and the code does not return.
