John Deere 524198.02 – SFA (Suspended Front Axle / Front Chassis Control Unit): Front Chassis Module Internal Fault

   Inspect around the batteries and alternator for any visual signs of damage, accumulated debris, or loose connections.

   Check fuse F30, which provides power to the SFA circuit.

   Test the power supply circuit and ground circuit at the SFA harness connector to ensure the module is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground.

   Test the 5-Volt supply voltage circuit coming from the module to ensure it is not being shorted out by a faulty sensor on the front chassis.

   Verify if there are other CAN BUS communication errors (such as SMB 001873.09 or TEC 000639.12) which might indicate a network issue rather than an isolated module failure.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate module

   Locate the Front Chassis Control Unit (SFA) on the machine.

   Disconnect harnesses

   Carefully disconnect the multi-pin wiring harnesses from the module.

   Remove module

   Unbolt the mounting hardware and remove the faulty control unit.

   Install new module

   Install the new or remanufactured SFA module and secure the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect wiring and power

   Reconnect the wiring harnesses and restore battery power.

   Program module

   The new module will require programming/calibration by a John Deere dealer using the Service ADVISOR tool to sync with the tractor's CAN BUS system and specific equipment configuration.
