   After performing the soft reset (restarting the tractor), check the CommandCenter display to see if the active Service Code 524212.31 reappears.

   If the code returns, access the Rear Hitch Control Lever assembly. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the lever and the HCC/HCU module for pinched wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Test the Lever/Sensor

   Test the Rear Hitch Control Lever's potentiometer/sensor for proper voltage sweep and resistance according to your specific model's technical manual.

   Replace Faulty Components

   If the wiring is intact but the lever is not sending a signal, replace the Rear Hitch Control Lever assembly.

   Dealer Intervention

   If the harness and lever are functioning properly but the CAN bus message is still missing, the HCC/HCU module itself may require software flashing, recalibration, or replacement. Have a John Deere dealer perform the repair.
