Check the cause

  1. Restart the tractor engine to verify if the active Diagnostic Trouble Code reappears or if it was a temporary communication glitch

  2. Press the select switch on the CommandCenter display to acknowledge the code and see if the display returns to normal mode

  3. While seated in the operator's seat, cycle the front PTO switch off and on

  4. Visually inspect the front PTO switch and its related wiring circuit for any obvious signs of damage, debris, or loose connections

  5. Check the Operator Interface Control (OIC) software version to ensure it is up to date

Repair steps

  1. Confirm fault

Restart the tractor and cycle the front PTO switch to confirm the fault is a hard, returning fault.

  2. Inspect wiring

Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the front PTO switch and the Cab Module (AIC) or Arm Rest Module (AIC) for shorts, opens, or corrosion.

  3. Repair wiring

Repair or replace any damaged wiring components found during the inspection.

  4. Replace switch

If the wiring is intact and the CAN BUS messages remain implausible, replace the faulty Front PTO Switch.

  5. Update software

Update the OIC control software if an update is available, as outdated software can cause implausible signal readings.

  6. Clear codes and test

Clear the diagnostic trouble codes and test the front PTO system to ensure proper operation. If the code returns, official documentation recommends having a John Deere dealer perform further module diagnostics.
