John Deere 524216.09 – Armrest Interface Control (AIC) Unit / Front Chassis Module (PTF): CAN BUS Message Fault Either Cab Module (AIC), Or Arm Rest Module (AIC) If Fitted

There is a data transfer problem between the Armrest Interface Control (AIC) software and the PTF control software. The CAN bus message from the OIC control software regarding the front PTO switch value is not being updated regularly via the CAN bus.

   Verify the front PTO switch for correct operation to ensure it is providing plausible ON/OFF values to the system.

   Inspect the CAN circuit wiring and connectors related to the front PTO switch for intermittent connections, shorts, loose connections, corrosion, or abrasion.

   Check the Operator Interface Control (OIC) software version, as outdated software can sometimes trigger this code.

   Test the Switch

   Test the front PTO switch mechanism for internal failure. If the switch shows the same value for both ON and OFF positions, it is defective and must be replaced.

   Harness Repair

   If the switch tests fine, trace the CAN bus wiring harness between the front PTO switch, the PTF module, and the AIC module. Repair or replace any damaged wires or loose connector pins.

   Software Update

   If the physical components and wiring are intact, update the OIC control software to the latest version using John Deere dealer diagnostic tools.

   Clear and Retest

   Clear the inactive CAN bus fault codes. Cycle the power to the tractor and test the front PTO engagement to verify the code does not return to an ACTIVE status.
