John Deere 524218.12 – PTA (Transmission Module IVT) / TCU (Transmission Control Unit): Park Lock Still On When Powered Zero Active

This diagnostic trouble code is generated when the transmission control software detects that the mechanical park lock is still engaged, even though "Power Zero" (a state where the transmission holds the tractor stationary using hydrostatic power rather than the mechanical lock) is being commanded by the TIA (Tractor Implement Automation) or UIC (User Interface Controller) software at the same time.

   Check CAN BUS communication for accompanying errors (e.g., 524183.19 or 524182.19) between the PTA/TCU and TIA/UIC that could cause conflicting commands

   Locate the park lock actuator and manual release cable on the transmission housing. Ensure the lever can move freely and is not bound by debris or a seized cable.

   Electrical Testing

   Disconnect the park lock solenoid. Use a multimeter to check for proper voltage when the tractor is commanded out of park. If voltage is present but the solenoid does not actuate, the solenoid/actuator is defective.

   Hydraulic Testing

   If the solenoid actuates but the lock remains engaged, attach a pressure gauge to the park lock control block test port. If pressure is below spec, inspect the transmission control block and pump.

   If the actuator or solenoid is faulty, remove the park lock cover. Replace the defective actuator, solenoid, or park lock pawl. Always use new gaskets (e.g., L150601 or L153368) when reinstalling the cover.
