524218.19

John Deere 524218.19 – CCU: Park Position Signal Fault

Issue description

The park position signal cannot be determined and provided on the CAN bus by the transmission control software (PTA, PTQ, or PTD). A replacement value is transmitted over the CAN bus, triggering this fault code. This causes the rear PTO functionality to be significantly limited or entirely non-functional.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the park position sensor for signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  2. Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to test the park position sensor for proper operation and continuity.

  3. Use John Deere Service ADVISOR to test the CAN bus communication (500 kBd) for irregularities. Ensure that all CAN messages from the PTA, PTQ, or PTD control software are being correctly transmitted and received by the RPT control software.

  4. Verify the software versions of the PTA, PTQ, PTD, and RPT control units.

Repair steps

  1. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks reveal an open circuit, short, or corrosion in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wires and connectors.

  2. Replace Sensor

If the park position sensor fails operational testing, remove the defective sensor from the transmission housing and install a new one.

  3. Update Control Software

Ensure that the PTA, PTQ, PTD, and RPT control software are all updated to the latest versions. Install any available patches or updates that address CAN bus communication issues.

  4. Clear Codes and Test

Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool and test the tractor's park engagement and rear PTO functionality to ensure the issue is resolved.

Parts you might need
