John Deere 524223.03 – Chassis Control Unit (CCU): Differential Lock Switch Circuit Voltage High / Diff Lock Switch On Floor Has Been Pressed For Too Long

This fault code is triggered when the control unit detects that the differential lock switch has been closed (pressed) for more than 15 seconds after power-up. While this fault is active, the differential lock cannot be engaged, and the control unit will degrade the function to prevent potential damage or unsafe operation.

   Check for physical obstructions: Ensure that a foot, floor mat, or debris is not resting on or inadvertently holding down the differential lock switch.

   Perform a system reset: Restart the engine or cycle the tractor's power to reset the communication messages and verify if the active Service Code reappears.

   Inspect switch and wiring: Examine the differential lock switch and its wiring harness for any signs of physical damage, wear, or electrical faults such as a short to high voltage.

   Clear the Area

   Remove any floor mats, dirt, or debris from around the floor-mounted differential lock switch.

   Engage and disengage the differential lock switch manually to see if it springs back properly or if it is physically stuck.

   Replace the Switch

   If the switch is physically stuck closed, internally shorted, or damaged, remove the faulty switch and install a replacement differential lock switch/actuator.

   Repair Wiring

   If the switch tests fine but the code persists, trace the wiring from the switch to the CCU. Repair any damaged wires or shorts causing the "Voltage High" condition.
