   Inspect the rear PTO remote switches (including the mudguard/fender switches) for proper physical operation and continuity.

   Examine the wiring harnesses and connectors associated with the rear PTO switch, the Cab Module (AIC/OIC), and the Rear Chassis Module (RPT) for signs of damage, corrosion, shorts, or loose connections.

   Use a John Deere diagnostic tool to test the CAN bus network for irregularities. Verify that CAN messages from the OIC/AIC control software are actually being transmitted and received by the RPT control software.

   Verify the current software versions of both the OIC/AIC and RPT modules, as outdated software can cause data transfer discrepancies.

   Test and Replace Switches

   If the diagnostic checks reveal that the rear PTO switch or mudguard switch is sending implausible signals or has failed internally, remove and replace the defective switch.

   Repair the Harness

   If wiring damage or connector corrosion is found between the cab module and the rear chassis, repair or replace the affected CAN bus wiring/connectors to restore clean communication.

   Update Control Software

   Install any available patches or software updates for both the OIC/AIC and RPT control units to address known communication bugs.

   Clear and Retest

   Clear the fault codes from the system using a diagnostic tool. Cycle the tractor's power and test the rear PTO functionality (both in-cab and via the fender switches) to ensure the code does not return and the PTO engages safely.
