John Deere 524232.02 – TCU: Park Brake Pressure/Transmission Pump and Enable Pressure Sensor Conflict
Issue description
The transmission control unit has detected an issue with the park brake pressure sensor. On tractors equipped with an Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT), this indicates that the readings from the park brake pressure sensor are illogical when compared to the data from the transmission pump and enable pressure sensors. For other transmission types, it is generally described as a 'Park brake pressure sensor problem'.

Check the cause
Restart the tractor to determine if the code is a temporary communication error that will clear on a power cycle
Visually inspect the hydraulic oil level and top it off if necessary, as low hydraulic oil can cause pressure-related faults
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors associated with the park brake pressure sensor for signs of damage, corrosion, or moisture intrusion
Verify the sensor is receiving the correct power supply voltage from the control unit
Test the wiring for any short circuits to power or ground (e.g., checking for voltage at specific pins on the TCU connector)
Perform a pressure test by applying a known pressure to the sensor and measuring the output voltage or current to verify it matches manufacturer specifications
Repair steps
Prepare machine
Park the machine safely on level ground, engage the park brake, and shut off the engine.
Locate sensor
Locate the park brake pressure sensor, which will be mounted on the transmission or hydraulic valve block depending on the exact tractor model.
Inspect and clean connector
Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector and inspect the terminals for damage or corrosion. Clean or repair the connection as necessary.
Test circuit and sensor
Perform diagnostic checks on the wiring and sensor to verify power supply, check for shorts, and validate pressure readings.
Replace pressure sensor
If the wiring is intact and the sensor is determined to be faulty through testing, replace the park brake pressure sensor.
Clear codes and verify
After replacement, clear the fault codes and operate the tractor to ensure the issue is resolved. If the code returns, the problem may lie within the Transmission Control Unit or another component in the circuit, requiring dealer service.
