John Deere 524232.03 – PTP / PTI / PLC: Park Brake Pressure Sensor Circuit Voltage High
Issue description
The control unit detects that the signal voltage from the park brake pressure sensor exceeds the valid upper limit (typically greater than 4.5V or 4.8V). This condition indicates that the sensor has failed internally, there is a short circuit to a high-voltage power source in the wiring harness, or the sensor has lost its ground connection.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the park brake pressure sensor for signs of physical damage, chafing, loose pins, or corrosion.
Verify that the ground connection for the sensor circuit is secure and free from corrosion (a broken ground causes signal voltage to float high).
Inspect the sensor circuit for a short to a power supply lead (high voltage source).
Use a multimeter or diagnostic tool to measure the signal voltage at the pressure sensor and verify if it is stuck above the normal operating range (greater than 4.5 V).
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and chock the wheels to prevent unintended movement, as the park lock system is currently compromised.
Locate the Sensor
Find the park brake/park lock pressure sensor, typically located on the transmission control block or the park lock valve assembly.
Clean and Reconnect
Disconnect the sensor. Clean any dirt, moisture, or corrosion from the electrical contacts using a dedicated electrical contact cleaner. Reconnect and check if the code clears.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power or a broken ground wire in the harness, repair or splice the affected wiring. Secure the repair with heat shrink and protective loom.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring and ground test good but the sensor still outputs an out-of-range high voltage, the sensor itself has failed. Unthread the old sensor, install the new OEM pressure sensor, and torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn on the machine's ignition, clear the stored 524232.03 fault code via the cab display monitor or diagnostic tool, and test the park brake operation to ensure the code does not return and the transmission engages properly.
