John Deere 524233.04 – PTA: B62 Hydrostatic Speed Sensor, Voltage in Channel 1 Too Low

The control software has detected that the voltage at the signal input from Channel 1 of the hydrostatic speed sensor (B62, lead 6089) is too low, typically indicating a short to ground.    Compare the output signals of Channel 1 and Channel 2 on the hydrostatic speed sensor to verify consistency; a significant discrepancy usually points to an internal sensor failure.

   Perform the 'B62 - Hydrostatic Speed Sensor, Circuit/Harness Test' as outlined in the TM8081 Technical Manual to isolate whether the short is in the wiring harness or internal to the sensor itself.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to protect the transmission control modules during electrical work.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the B62 Hydrostatic Speed Sensor on the AutoPowr/IVT transmission housing.

   Harness Repair (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to ground in lead 6089, repair the damaged section of the wiring harness or replace the connector pigtail.

   Sensor Replacement (If Applicable)

   If the harness tests good and the sensor is internally shorted, disconnect the electrical connector from the B62 sensor. Remove the retaining hardware and pull the old hydrostatic speed sensor from the transmission.

   Calibration and Testing

   Start the tractor and verify that both channels are properly calibrated to provide accurate speed readings. Perform a test drive to ensure the transmission shifts out of come-home mode and operates normally.
